Chief executive Mark Lejman is confident the company is well positioned to move forward as it focuses on critical safety equipment and services to marine and offshore firms.
“We are seeing a lot of development work going forward in Grimsby. There are not that many fishing vessels left, but the developments in renewable energy are important.”
Cosalt has been supplying safety equipment for the Lynn and Inner Dowsing windfarms off the Lincolnshire coast for the past few years. Customers include Centrica Renewable Energy and some of its sub-contractors, such as Danish company MT Hojgaard, which has put in place the foundations for the 54 turbines, and Subocean of Aberdeen who are laying the cables between the turbines.
Greater Grimsby’s emergence as one of the key UK hubs for the offshore wind industry has been boosted by several new investments recently such as the Windpower Support specialist vessel. Both Siemens and Centrica have established operations and maintenance (O&M) facilities in Grimsby for their offshore wind divisions.
