Danish shipping company DFDS and Stora Enso, one of the world's largest paper producers, have recently signed an agreement confirming their cooperation on the transport of paper to the UK and Irish markets from Stora Enso’s paper mills in Sweden and Finland.
The paper will be carried in Stora Enso's special SECU boxes onboard DFDS ro-ro ships from Gothenburg to Tilbury and Immingham.
Paper products are shipped from Gothenburg in Stora Enso’s own SECU boxes, especially designed for safe and efficient transport of paper. Part of the volumes is shipped to Immingham, but the majority is shipped to the large Stora Enso distribution center in Tilbury south of London.
Knut Hansen, Senior Vice President of Stora Enso, says:
“Our ambition has been to find the most efficient and agile transport solution. We are pleased to renew our cooperation with DFDS, a since long trusted supplier.”
DFDS Tor Line operates between Gothenburg and Immingham with the three ro/ro vessels TOR FICARIA, TOR BEGONIA and TOR FREESIA. All three were lengthened in 2009 to a capacity of 4,700 lane metres each, which has major environmental benefits in terms of lower oil consumption per unit.
